Those among you with green fingers are in for a real treat this March, as the historic Dromoland Castle is hosting a unique Gardener’s Weekend. Home gardeners are invited to join the five-star castle on March 5th & 6th March for two days of flora and fauna inspiration.
Get an insight into the secrets of Dromoland’s beautiful gardens and pick up tips and advice that you can take back to your own garden.
The Gardener’s Weekend will be hosted by Dromoland Castle’s very own head gardener, Dorothea Madden, and garden design consultant Arthur Shackleton.
Over the course of two days, guests will enjoy special guided garden walks, themed talks and practical advice that will include a variety of topics including, planting and lawn care to herbs, trees and even composting.
On the first day, guests will be served welcome refreshments followed by a woodland walk with Dorothea and Arthur. You will then listen to a presentation by Arthur, while you nibble on canapés and cocktails before you sit down to dinner.
On the second day of the Gardener’s Weekend, participants will meet in the picturesque walled garden to learn top tips on planting a selection of bulbs and trees. When you have worked up an appetite you will then dine in the cosy Fig Tree Restaurant for lunch.
After lunch, you will learn more about Dromoland’s gardening secrets with a course in herbs and vegetables, lawn maintenance and composting. To round off your day, a delicious dinner will be served in the elegant surroundings of the Earl of Thomond Restaurant.
Guests will also enjoy a relaxing stay at Dromoland Castle, where they can soak up the history of this grand castle. The Gardener’s Weekend includes a two night stay at Dromoland Castle with a full Irish breakfast each morning.
