Instagram Accounts to Whet the Appetite

Below I am sharing the accounts on Instagram which inspire me on a daily basis, I think Instagram is playing a huge role in people’s online social media lives and allows all of us to draw inspiration from anyone. Here are some of my favourite Irish Foodie Instagram Accounts.

Black Sheep Foods

‘Vibrant, seasonal, local and of course delicious’ is how Julianne Brogan of BlackSheep Foods gourmet catering company describes her food style. Since starting the company in 2014, BlackSheep Foods has gone from strength to strength and their Instagram page is likely to cause a mild case of food envy. With her new café Baabaa by BlackSheep Foods in Chapelizod recently added to the fold, you don’t need the services of the catering arm to try Julianne’s aesthetically stunning food.

The Happy Pear

It is virtually impossible not to feel somewhat energised simply by scrolling through the Instagram page of Steve and Dave Flynn, aka The Happy Pear. The Wicklow twins have changed the face of vegetarian cooking in Ireland but to be honest, even a committed carnivore could take inspiration from their food and imagery.

Bread 41

We are eternally thankful to Ballymaloe trained Eoin Cluskey whose Bread 41 bakery and café on Dublin’s Pearse Street has reignited our love for bread. And pastries. And pizza. And carbs in general. It would be virtually impossible to live a low carb lifestyle with the images of Cluskeys creations dripping in to your Instagram feed, and honestly, when it’s this good, why would you want to.

Grainne O’Keefe

Head chef at Clanbrassil House and culinary director at Bujo, Grainne O’Keefe’s Instagram is worth stalking for the images of her Hash Brown Chips alone. The burgers will also impress and as for the Whiskey Aged Cote du Boeuf……….enough said.

A Matter of Nourishment

With an MSc in Chemistry, Chiara Gianelli is a nutrition consultant, food photographer and recipe developer so you know you are in safe hands when it comes to being mindful about what you eat. Don’t let that fool you though, Chiara’s images are vibrant and colourful and we cannot get enough of them.

(EN/ITA) Good quality bread, extra virgin olive oil, and fresh seasonal ingredients are the key to get this recipe right. It’s a simple dish that tastes of Summer, it has a hint of Mediterranean flavours and it’s a bit messy, exactly as you would expect from the best sandwiches. If you have ever tried a Catalonian dish called Pan con tomate or Pa amb tomàquet (bread with tomatoes), you’ll find out that the external layers of this sandwich somehow remind its deliciousness (Pan con tomate is not made with sliced or finely chopped tomatoes like bruschetta or an open toast – instead, it’s made with their pulp). Yes 🙌 You got it right – along with a delicious filling, there's a layer of tomato sauce 🍅 Summer's seasonal produce will be available for just a few more weeks, so better trying this sandwich asap! Find the recipe on my website (#linkinbio ➡ look for the ultimate Summer sandwich). Chiara

Jennifer Oppermann

Dublin based food photographer Jennifer Opperman is a busy lady. A food stylist and recipe creator, fine art was Jennifer’s main squeeze until the food industry came calling. These days, Jennifer uses her carefully trained artistic vision to create elegant food images that will have you cranking up the oven in no time.

Soulful and Healthy

A Bangalore native, married to a Polish man and living in Dublin, it’s no surprise that the food and recipes that come from Shilpa Razniewska’s Soulful and Healthy blog are a melting pot of cultures and flavours. Her Instagram page is a pleasurable reminder of just how good healthy food can be.

Banana Melon Kitchen

Suzanne Melinn is the brains behind the plant based Banana Melon Kitchen, a fusion of art and food located in Co. Cork. Lucky Corconians will find Suzanne showcasing her wares at various vegan pop up’s or at Mahon Point market, but the rest of us will just have to console ourselves with her beautiful imagery.

The Daly Dish and Mister Dish

In a quest to find a healthier lifestyle, Gina Daly and husband Karol began sharing healthier takes on some not so healthy favourites and the rest, as they say, is history. With a new book just released, their Instagram feed is full of eye catching, easy to prepare dishes that are family focused and won’t make you feel in the slightest bit restricted.

Meat Peter

Peter Hannan is something of an accidental Instagram hero (to me anyway), purely for the stunning selection of meats that appear on his page. Meat supplier to some of the best restaurant in Ireland and the UK, his Sugar Pit Bacon looks fantastic but it’s his #steaksaturday will have you running to the butcher for supplies out of sheer envy. Peter also comes across as a super friendly and helpful guy and will happily answers any questions about cooking or serving meat that followers might have.
