Aniar’s Killian Crowley Heads to Milan for S. Pellegrino Young Chef Competition Grand Final
Known as a hotspot for fashionistas, Milan will this weekend be transformed into a runway for the world’s most talented young chefs, as the Italian city prepares to welcome the ‘S.Pellegrino Young Chef Village’ with the 21 young competitors, their Mentors and the Grand Jury of starred chefs that will crown the winner of this 2018 edition descending on the city.
The prestigious competition takes place from 11th – 13th May and will be located at Superstudio Più in the heart of the city. The Village will host three rounds of cooking competition and some of the most exciting gastronomic experiences.
The final will play out over Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th. The 21 Young Chefs will prepare their Signature Dishes, accompanied by their Mentors and, at the end of each round, the Young Chefs will present their creation to the Grand Jury.
Finally, during the Final Show on Sunday night, the Grand Jury will crown the next S.Pellegrino Young Chef, celebrating the talent that will convince them for choice of ingredients, skills, genius, beauty of the dish and message behind the plate.
The 21 esteemed Mentors will have the chance to assign the Taste of Authenticity by Acqua Panna Award, recognizing the ability to celebrate the ingredients and highlight the richness of the competitors’ own cultural background. Finally, the online community of Fine Dining Lovers will assign its People’s Choice Award, to express the voice of all the foodies following the event from the web.
With Aniar’s Killian Crowley representing the UK and Ireland with his signature dish of turbot, kohlrabi and sea purslane, Ireland stands a chance of claiming the top honour once again. Alongside his mentor, The Westbury’s Alyn Williams, who will fill in for Angela Hartnett, Killian will put a taste of the West of Ireland before the Grand Jury to hopefully secure the title.
He will be tasked with impressing a jury composed of internationally renowned chefs Dominique Crenn, Ana Roš, Brett Graham, Annie Féolde, Virgilio Martínez, Paul Pairet and Margarita Forés.
The cooking sessions and the Award Ceremony will be live-streamed across the globe on both www.finedininglovers.com and www.sanpellegrino.com and on the Facebook pages @FineDiningLovers and @SanPellegrino.
