Made in Galway Artisan Food Producers Join Forces with NUI Galway

Galway County Council and its distinctive brand and collection of Made in Galway Artisan food producers have come together with NUI Galway to build further strategic associations in the promotion of Galway’s rich local artisan food sector in the advent of Galway’s European Region of Gastronomy 2018 designation.

Ranked among the top 1% universities in the world, NUI Galway, at the heart of Galway City and on the edge of Europe, is host to a wealth of international conferences and events which attract much business and media attention to Galway. Recent examples include the Anatomists on the Edge International Conference whereby delegates tasted and experienced at first hand the excellent range of ingredients available in Galway which were transformed into mouthwatering culinary delights by award winning campus based chefs and the hospitality teams.

Ann Duggan, Manager of Commercial Services at NUI Galway said “NUI Galway are delighted to be working with Galway County Council and Made in Galway to promote the European Region of Gastronomy 2018 designation. NUI Galway are committed to supporting local producers and to showcasing the quality of local food available to national and international audiences.”

Alan Farrell, Galway County Council said: “Ireland’s reputation as a food destination and country known for producing high quality food has grown significantly and Galway has played a significant role in this. Such strategic partnerships between Galway County Council’s Made in Galway Food producers and NUI Galway are hugely significant in the opportunities they create for small food businesses to gain such immediate and close access to international audiences and markets as they grow their business and brands.”

Made inGalway

Galway County Council’s Made in Galway brand represents a very wide and distinctive range of food producers from seafood, fish, meat, poultry, vegetables and of course innovative sauces, preserves and more, all of which are created from the finest of Galway ingredients and each with a unique local flavour.

Strategic associations with NUI Galway to expand the market opportunities for Galway County Council and the Made in Galway producers are one of many activities which are ongoing as Galway gets closer to hosting it’s year as European Region of Gastronomy 2018.

In 2018 Galway and the West of Ireland will share the honour of this title with North Brabant in the Netherlands and both regions will use the award year to work collaboratively on a number of projects and work with the other regions in the European Region of Gastronomy platform.
