Mark Moriarty to End Global Tour at Sold Out Dinner at The Greenhouse

Over a year after Mark Moriarty was crowned S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2015, his culinary world tour is set to come a end on September 25th. Fittingly, the last occasion of the global dinner series will take place in The Greenhouse Restaurant; the same restaurant that Mark worked at while still studying a degree in Culinary Arts in DIT.

With the help of head chef and friend Mickael Viljanen, Mark will create a 6 course menu paired with wines. Tickets costing €165 per person went on sale on August 17th, and by the 20th had been quickly snapped up by diners keen to sample the modern Irish cuisine that Mark has been showcasing at pop ups all over the world for the past year, and perhaps a taste of his signature dish of ‘Celeriac baked in barley and fermented hay, cured and smoked celeriac, toasted hay tea’.

Joining up with top chefs in each location, the stops on Mark’s global tour included London, Milan, Alta Badia, Melbourne, Sydney, Charleston, Singapore, Amalfi, Paris, Switzerland, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Hong Kong being.

Mark’s very last duty as S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2015 will be when he returns to Milan on October 13th to cook a banquet dinner for the judges and guests at the final of S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2016. While the name of the next young chef of the year is uncertain, one thing’s for sure, after Mark’s superb performance as a culinary ambassador for his country, the Irish chef will be a tough act to follow.
