Already sweet enough? If you always opt for a cheeseboard over a sugary dessert, Berts Jazz Bar at The Merchant Hotel has the Afternoon Tea of your dreams. Berts is putting a twist on the traditional high tea with the launch of a new ‘Savoury Afternoon Tea’, sure to satisfy even the heartiest of appetites.
The jazz venue has ditched the traditional cakes and scones to create this new Savoury Afternoon Tea which will feature an array of seasonal treats such as a tempting sounding Croque Madame Muffin, vibrant and inventive Beetroot and Goats’ Cheese Macaron, modern Scotch Quail Egg and Mini Pork en Croute.
The leisurely meal will also be served with gourmet sandwiches, scrumptious petit fours, and a glass of Prosecco or a selection of tea or coffee. Afternoon Tea at The Merchant Hotel has become an iconic treat in the city with the hotel serving around 22,000 teas per year, the second largest number in the UK. The opulent surroundings of the red velvet clad Jazz Bar offer a stylish alternative to The Merchant’s traditional Afternoon Tea in The Great Room.
The new menu has been created by Berts long-standing Head Chef Michael Webber and will provide guests with an alternative choice to the hotel’s ever-popular Afternoon Tea. Berts Jazz Bar manager Andrew Carson is looking forward to offering guests a new and novel approach to Afternoon Tea in the city.
“We are always looking for ways to improve our customer experience and offer guests something new. This afternoon tea is perfect for those who prefer savoury items over sweet and we’ve worked in conjunction with the hotel’s chefs to create a special menu that is bursting with flavour,” said Carson.
Afternoon Tea at Berts Jazz Bar will cost £25 per person and is available from Saturday 12pm – 3:30pm and Sunday 12pm – 4:30pm.
