Michellin Stars In Great Britain and Ireland will Be Announced at Live Event for the First Time

Restaurants in Great Britain and Ireland that have earn Michelin stars will be revealed at a live event for the first time this 3rd of October since the British Isles appeared on the publication in 1911. The presentation will also match the publication of the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2017 and it is expected to attract top level chefs and prestigious names within the industry.

As reported today on Michellin’s UK site, the unveiling of new Michelin-starred restaurants is seen as one of the most important dates in the culinary year. The news will be announced by Michael Ellis, International Director of the Michelin Guides at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Savoy Place, London.

Mr Ellis said: “The guide has existed for over 100 years and, if anything, it is even more relevant today because it is independent and it is consistent – which is why the Michelin Star is seen as a benchmark across the world.” There are more than 3,300 places featured in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland.

The 2017 edition of the guide is espected to continue to reflect the changing culinary landscape of Great Britain and Ireland, said Rebecca Burr, editor of the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland. According to her, “the last 10 years have seen the emergence of a host of different types of restaurant producing excellent food under the guidance of extremely talented young chefs.”

“Michelin inspectors will continue to make anonymous visits and to pay their own bills, and we will continue to offer expert, objective and consistent information to our readers”, she added.
