Record Number of New Zealand Producers to Attend Prowein

New Zealand is gathering its wine producers and industry players for the 2016 Prowein International Wine & Spirits Trade Show.

This year the event is being held in Dusseldorf from the 13th-15th of March and will play host to the largest ever contingent of New Zealand wineries.

The reason for the record participation is that New Zealand has seen a 14% increase in wine exports in 2015. Figures show that wine is now their 6th largest export generating $1.54 billion last year.

Over 30 producers will be travelling to Dusseldorf to display their wines in the ‘New Zealand Wine Pavilion‘ which will represent New Zealand’s 10 main wine regions with around 200 wines available for attendees to taste.

I’m looking forward to attending Prowein for the first time this year.” said Philip Gregan, CEO of New Zealand Winegrowers. “It’s a great opportunity for producers to explore new export opportunities and capitalise on the increased demand. It will be wonderful to see such strong representation from New Zealand.

German Sommeliers Markus Berlinghof and Christina Hilker will be hosting seminars about New Zealand wine, fresh from their recent visit for the International Sauvignon Celebration and Sparkling and Chardonnay Symposium.

They will cover a diverse range of topics including Regional and Oak Aged Sauvignons, Pinot Noir, Bold Reds, Sparkling Wines and White Wines Beyond Sauvignon.

Prowein is one of the largest and most important wine fairs in Europe with over 50,000 visitors attending last year from over 100 countries. Prowein gives wine producers access to the world’s most influential sommeliers, chefs, journalists and international wine buyers; all under one roof.
