Over 300 people gathered at the Ashdown Park Hotel, Gorey to celebrate those who excel in the hospitality industry in County Wexford at the inaugural South East Radio Hospitality Awards.
The listeners of South East Radio voted for their favourite pub, restaurant or hotel. A short list from every sector was formed with each receiving a visit from our panel of esteemed judges, to culminate in a list of winners for all 35 categories.
Guests were treated to a black tie event filled with glamour and sparkle, a five course meal followed a drinks reception before the winners were announced. Master of Ceremonies, Alan Corcoran, invited individual category sponsors to award winners with their prestigious trophy. The Banjacks provided the music with X Factor’s Mary Byrne, Voice of Ireland star Kayleigh Cullinan and country singing sensation Stacey Breen ensuring a great night’s entertainment.
Two special judge’s awards added to the excitement. Niamh Murphy, Kelly’s Resort Hotel, Rosslare received the Judges Rising Star award and Meylers Millhouse, Tacumchane was awarded the Judges Special Merit Award.
The announcement of the star awards toasting the overall best wedding venue, pub, restaurant and hotel was the climax of the night. The Brandon House Hotel, New Ross was awarded Wedding Venue of the year and the accolade of Overall Bar of the Year went to The Sky in the Ground, Wexford. The Overall Restaurant of the Year was awarded to La Cote Restaurant, Wexford with Whitford House Hotel, Wexford crowned the winner of the Overall Hotel of the Year award.
