After two successful runs, the highly anticipated Spanish Wine Week in Ireland is back for its 2018 edition. Wines from Spain has organised a massive celebration of vino which will take place from the Monday 23rd of April to the Sunday 29th. Many venues across the country will be joining the party so stay tuned and find out about tastings, talks, wine dinners, offers and competitions – all organised by Wines from Spain.
Each day of the Spanish Wine Week in Ireland will offer an opportunity to enjoy and discover something new. Spain is one of the world’s most versatile countries when it comes to wine, being the most widely planted wine-producing nation and the third largest producer of wine in the world.
The fun starts early this time with two events on Friday, 20th April at Cliff House Hotel and Cliff Townhouse. Wines from Spain and West Waterford Festival of Food have teamed up. Michelin star Chef Martijn Kajuiter will host an intimate Chef’s Table Dinner in House restaurant championing local producers and paired with wines from the Rueda and Bierzo regions. The Chef’s Table Dinner with wines costs €95 per person and starts at 8.00 pm.
On the same evening in Dublin, Cliff Townhouse on St. Stephen’s Green will be hosting a Taste of Gran Canaria, a place close to Head Chef Sean Smith whose wife is from the region. Each course and wine will be introduced by Sunday Business Post wine writer Tomas Clancy. Dinner costs €79.00 per person and can booked directly by emailing email@example.com
On Monday 23rd April, Niall Sabongi will be leading a Klaw Krawl with Rias Baxias. Tickets are €75.00. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to book – places are limited.
On Tuesday 24th April, wine writer Tomas Clancy will host hosting Top Summer Wines at Whelehans Wines at 7.15pm, tickets cost €25 per person.
Also on that day, Rafael Salazar from Vinostito will be leading a tasting of ‘Atlantic vs Mediterranean’ in L’Atitude 51, the legendary wine café in Cork city. Beginning at 7.30 pm.
On Wednesday 25th April, Instituto Cervantes in Dublin regale guests with a night of Flamenco, Fino Tio Pepe and Iberian Ham starting at 6.30 p.m. The wines will be introduced by Sherry expert Paddy Murphy. Costing just €5, tickets are extremely limited and can be booked directly on email@example.com.
On the same night, Rafael Salazar of Vinostito will be hosting a ‘Spain, no bull’ talk and tasting at Green Man Wines from 7pm and tickets cost €35.
Thursday 26th April sees events across the country including a Spanish wine dinner with John Wilson in La Touche Wines in Greystones a Cava & Canapés tasting with Ian Brosnan at Ely Bar & Grill, a ‘Hidden Gems & Unknown Regions’ evening at Boyles of Kildare with Susan Boyle, and Woodberry Wines and Kasbah Wine Bar are hosting a Spanish wine paired dinner.
On Friday 27th April, there’s also plenty to choose from: Galway’s Woodberry Wines will put Rioja in the spotlight, Blackrock’s El Celler Restaurant will host a Spanish wine dinner, and Limerick’s No.1 Pery Square will also bring Spain to guests’ tables with a special dinner prepared by Chef Timothy Harris.
On Saturday 28th April, wine writer Corinna Hardgrave will host a sparkling wine tasting at Suesey Street, followed by lunch accompanied by Spanish wines in the venue’s cosy private dining room.
On Sunday 29th April Rueda will be the star at The Twelve. They’ll be kicking off at 3:00 pm with a tasting, followed by a wine paired supper prepared by talented chef Martin O’Donnell. More information: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Several wine stores and bars will also have a huge selection of offers throughout Spanish Wine Week including The Port House, Woodberry Wines in Galway, O’Briens Wines, The Winehouse in Howth, Fallon & Byrne, Whelehans Wines and ELY Wine Bar.
