Step Back in Time at Armagh City’s Georgian Day Banquet

Enjoy Armagh in all its glory as the city retraces its steps back to its Georgian roots for Georgian Day on 26th November. As part of the Georgian Day festivities and of Northern Ireland’s Year of Food & Drink, on Friday 25th November the Archbishop’s Palace throw open its doors for the first ever Georgian Banquet.

This black tie event will celebrate the best of Georgian entertainment and hospitality in the lavish surroundings of the Palace. Guests will get a unique opportunity to experience a flavour of Georgian High Society.

Meet with Georgian characters who will entertain you with the music, dances and stories of the time. A sumptuous 5 course menu and fine wines, selected by the Food Heartland Chef’s circle and prepared by The Yellow Door, will evoke the menus of the time all served with a modern twist.

The Georgian inspired menu includes Sloe Gin, Georgian style canapés, Strangford Prawn & Bacon Chowder, Roast Armagh Pork Middle with caramelized onions & Bramley Apples in Longmeadow Cider, and Baked Ballinteer Quails with Oranges Golden Sultanas & Verjus.

The black tie gala event takes place in The Archbishop’s Palace, Armagh, at 7.00pm. Tickets for the banquet cost £75 per person to include food, entertainment, cocktail reception and all wines and can be booked online at www.discovernorthernireland.com/The-Great-Armagh-Georgian-Banquet-Armagh.

This banquet is a part of Georgian Day, Saturday 26th November. The event will see Armagh in all it’s Georgian glory, sparkling with lights as the ancient cathedral city goes back to its Georgian roots. A festive market with more than 80 stalls hosted by traders in traditional costumes, offers visitors high quality gifts and locally produced food and drink. The city streets will offer something different on every turn including Georgian characters, demonstrations, live music, street theatre & performers, walking tours, mulled wine, mince pies, hot chestnuts and much more.
