This Whiskey Dinner at Suesey Street is Perfect to Woo the Whiskey Lover in your Life

When it comes to drink paired dinners, one might think that wine gets all the love, but whiskey enthusiasts will know that getting together the right dish and the right whiskey can elevate both and offer a wonderful experience. Fortunately for them, there is a very tempting date to mark on the calendar this month as restaurant Suesey Street has teamed up with Niall Tubridy, expert from the Irish Whiskey Museum on College Green, to organise a very special whiskey dinner in their private dining room on Fitzwilliam Place.

This 22nd of February, from 7:00 pm, guests will be treated to a specially designed three-course menu, created by head chef Richard Stearn, with each dish accompanied by an expertly chosen whiskey with complementary character.

While enjoying their food and drink, attendees will be able to learn more about whiskey and ask questions about the fascinating spirit.

The evening will begin with a welcome cocktail by the bar, and after that, Ireland’s best known Maître d’, John Healy, will guide guests to their tables. Then Niall will share a short history of whiskey followed by the first course: beetroot and whiskey cured salmon with smoked salmon paté, pickled beetroot and fennel cress will be served with West Cork Glengarriff Bog Oak Cask Whiskey. This is an experimental whiskey from West Cork Distillery, matured in an ex-Sherry butt and is finished in charred virgin oak casks – the charring was fuelled by bog oak from Glengarriff.

The main course will be a deliciously sticky whiskey-glazed, braised rib of beef served with crispy onions, creamed potato and honey roast baby carrots. The whiskey of choice to accompany this creation is Irish American Original Whiskey from the Irish American Trading Company which is made from a blend of grain and malt whiskeys aged in American oak barrels.

Finally, the night will end on a sweet note with a hot chocolate fondant served with whiskey gel and mascarpone ice cream. The glasses will follow with Method and Madness Single Pot Still Whiskey from the micro-distillery at Midleton, this whiskey has been matured in Sherry and American barrels and finished in French chestnut.

This event will be an ideal Valentine’s Day treat or simply an evening of food and whiskey exploration, and a perfect opportunity to taste great food and discover (or revisit) exciting whiskeys.

The Whiskey Dinner at Suesey Street with The Irish Whiskey Museum takes place on Thursday 22nd February at 7pm and includes complimentary whiskey cocktail on arrival and a three-course dinner with paired whiskeys and guided tasting from Niall Tubridy from The Irish Whiskey Museum for €55 per person. Wine can be bought separately on the night if requested.
