Take a Walk on the Wild Side – The Wilder Townhouse Review

Standing proudly on Adelaide Road The Wilder Townhouse is just a five minute walk from St. Stephens Green making it the perfect base for a night out in Dublin’s Fair City. A build that reaches back to Victorian times, a striking red brick facade only deepens the sense of history and rich heritage synonymous with the period in which it was established.

Described on its own website as ‘Anything But Ordinary’ and after our stay we wholeheartedly agree. Purchased in 2016 by its current owners Frankie & Josephine Whelehan this beautiful building re opened its doors as The Wilder Townhouse in July 2018.

We are fortunate enough to get the opportunity to stay in many magnificent places but one thing that always stands out be it for the right or wrong reasons is efficiency and ease of check-in. At The Wilder Townhouse the pristine marble floors glisten and the elegant modern chairs set in front of the period reception desk are very impressive and equally as impressive is the serenity and poise of the lovely receptionist that checked us in, but not before she had double checked that our more senior predecessors to the desk were personally taken care of, a lovely touch that is very rare to see these days.

Our room was located only a short stroll away from reception and we were suitably wowed by every inch of it. From the King size bed to the modern art works and artifacts this is a room you will never forget. A gorgeous en-suite bathroom filled with lux products. The mini bar filled with indulgent treats was a real gem.

The Gin & Tea Rooms & The Garden Room are two beautiful and highly Instagram worthy spots. Lots of vases of fresh boho chic style flowers filled numerous vases throughout. The interiors in The Wilder are incredibly cool and on trend. Rich emerald greens accented with lustrous golds.

As we were were attending an event in the city that evening we were not going to be availing of in house dining. We did however have time to enjoy a deliciously refreshing Gin & Tonic before we embarked on our super short journey into the center of town.

A delightfully personable young lady took our order and delivered it back to us along side some gorgeous cheese and nuts. An unexpected but most welcome extra touch.

Our event ended by around 10pm and without even considering going anywhere else we headed straight back to The Wilder for a night cap before a deep and restful nights sleep. Working on Saturday meant we needed to skip the much loved Saturday morning lie in and head down for breakfast. Once we reached the Garden Room we were greated by a fabulous display of fresh pastries, fruits, yogurts and cereals. On top of this we were encouraged to order a hot cooked to order breakfast too. We didn’t need to be asked twice!

The Wilder is a Taste Experience not to be missed. Dublin is one of our favourite cities in the world and unique places like this will always be on our list of must returns.
