The Beatyard Festival Returns to Dun Laoghaire for the August Bank Holiday Weekend

Enjoy a party by the sea this summer as The Beatyard festival returns to the Marina at Dun Laoghaire, July 30th and 31st. Celebrate the Bank Holiday by enjoying the best music, food, drink, tech, science, games, sports, arts, design and discussion.

This year Beatyard is bigger than ever with a whole new zone, Eatyard, dedicated solely to food. Over 30 food and drink producers and chefs will be hosting talks, demos, classes and competitions so you can feast and fuel up for the festival.

The Cool Bean Company will be bringing their beaneology to the event alongside Bray’s Box Burger, sandwich joint 147 Deli, Asian street food Bread & Bones, Canadian speciality La La Poutine and deep south BBQ from Pitt Bros. There’ll also be treats from Dublin Doughnut Co, Delish Melish Marshmallows, Arctic Stone Rolled Ice-Cream, 3FE Coffee and of course Teddy’s Soft Ice-Cream, on its home turf.

Tippletown will be back to refresh you and satisfy your thirst with themed drinks bars, cocktail and beer brewing competitions and classes with some of the best brewers, mixologists and bartenders from around the country.

Musical entertainment is the star of the show and you can enjoy disco heroes Boney M, the don of funk George Clinton with his full band Parliament Funkadelic, NYC soul/jazzer Roy Ayers, reggae legend Lee Scratch Perry, Grammy Award winning Brooklyn funksters Snarky Puppy, Chicago soul star Charles Bradley and homegrown talent from Jape and the Rubberbandits.

Studioyard is an area dedicated to design, art and science with installations from Science Gallery Dublin, The Adventure Rooms and the Exploration Dome Planetarium. There will also be a drawing session with the legendary Don Conroy!

The Gamesyard will feature loads of sports & carnival games, retro video gaming and inflatables as well as a 60FT giant shark. The Bernard Shaw Flea will migrate to the Beatyard site for the weekend as well as Sole Food Sneaker Fair, Dublin Vintage Factory, Tola Vintage & Tasty Threads.

Another new area, Banteryard, will cover talks, panels, debates and discussions covering tech, science, health, fitness, politics, literature, gadgetry, and anything else of interest and fascination in the Beatyard.

Bring the small ones along too as the new Kidsyard, a fully supervised area, is hosted by Recreate on the Saturday and Imaginosity Children’s Museum on the Sunday. On both days there will be hula hoop workshops, face painting, air dry clay modelling, rainbow painting and fun nautical tattoos. Kids 0-2 go free, Kids 2-12 are €5.
