Michael Collins of The Scarlet Heifer has scooped the Supreme BBQ Champion title for his Dry Aged Angus Beef Ribs at this years Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland (ACBI) National BBQ Competition.
Lester Manley (Head Judge, and Founder of Trailblazer BBQ) was extremely impressed by the flavours and most of all with the quality of The Scarlet Heifer’s meat, describing the ribs as “a mouth-watering piece of meat, tender juicy melt in the mouth beef ribs”.
Micheal Collins says “We are delighted to have received this award and proud to be selected amongst the best of local craft butchers in Ireland. We are passionate about our meat and enjoy advising our valued customers on how best to cook each cut to release and embrace their natural flavours”.
The Scarlet Heifer is a family business spanning three generation with over 60 years of experience in the food industry. The business has won several Gold Medal Awards over the past five years for BBQ products, sausages and speciality foods.
This year they were also awarded Gold for their Steak Burger with Sundried Tomato and Feta Cheese, Silver for the Executive Angus Steak Burger and Bronze for the Steak Burger with Clonakilty Black Pudding and Gubeen Bacon.
With locations in Leopardstown Shopping Centre, Foxrock Village, The Square Tallaght and O’Coileain Butchers in The Market, Stepaside, The Scarlet Heifer was one of the first in Dublin to be awarded Certified Craft Butcher status by ACBI.
The Scarlet Heifer is also the beef supplier to the highly acclaimed “Beeftro” restaurants in Dundrum and Balfe Street; owned by John Collins, brother of Michael and co-owner of The Scarlet Heifer.
