The Sexton Single Malt Irish Whiskey Launches with ‘Own the Night’ Photography Exhibition

Whiskey lovers were invited to celebrate the official launch of The Sexton Single Malt Irish Whiskey with a unique exhibition at the Project Arts Centre in Temple Bar last Thursday 18th of July.

Renowned Irish and international photographers submited work inspired by the theme “Own the Night.” Selected amateur work was displayed alongside their pieces and attendees were able to admire the collection while enjoying an assortment of cocktails made with the new Irish whiskey while enjoying live music.

These included “Bury the Hatchet”, which combined sweet and sour notes of lemon juice and Pedro Ximénez Sherry; “Love it to Death”, which had a bittersweet character with the herbal note of thyme; “Laid to Rest”, in which herbs and spiced enhanced the whiskey’s own notes; and “The Haunted”, reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, with a hint of chocolate bitters and coffee liqueur.

The atmosphere at the Sexton Photography Exhibition in the Project Arts Centre evoked the brand’s enigmatic character. Named after the custodians of sacred objects, whose quest was to prepare a person’s grave before they were laid to rest, The Sexton Single Malt Irish whiskey echoes a different perspective, one that dares people to live life to the fullest and to “Own The Night”.

Attendees were able to sample the whiskey neat and to appreciate its notes in an interactive installation inside of a darkroom inspired by those used to develop print photographs.

There, a display with various aromas found in the whiskey were waiting to be appreciated: marzipan, Oloroso Sherry, mixed nuts, toasted barely and chocolate were part of the palette of notes that created this sensory experience.

Master blender Alex Thomas said: “The nature of this exhibition will provide a unique insight into the night and will beautifully document the restless nature of urban life after dark. The Sexton challenges photographers to ‘Own The Night’ and will play around with styles, subjects and situations, much like I do behind the scenes during the creative blending process – so I expect The Sexton Whiskey and photography to forge a powerful connection on the night.”

The Sexton Single Malt is triple distilled in copper stills and aged in Oloroso Sherry oak casks. It’s made in Co. Antrim with 100% malted barley and bottled at 40% ABV. It’s available at James Fox and Celtic Whiskey Shop. You can find more stockists near your area online.
