Falling Apple Cider was released last year by Carlow Brewing Company. The company is well known for their O’Hara’s range of beers so this was something completely different from them. I have spent the years since the days of swigging from flagons on a riverbank in my late teens avoiding cider completely. Recently however I have been tempted back to the fruity charms of the fermented apple.
Falling Apple is made in Armagh using only Irish apples. It’s the colour of sunbeams. It avoids the cloying artificial sweetness that has put me off the very well known Irish Cider brand. Instead there is a crisp bite and some pleasant mellow medium sweetness. It’s very easy to drink. I had this on it’s own but it would be ideal to bring on a picnic with some sausage rolls. Available now nationally. Sláinte!
Available from O’Briens and all good stockists
