The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017 Have Just Been Announced – See the Full List Here

Widely regarded as the Oscars of the culinary world, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017 have just been announced at a glittering awards ceremony which took place in Melbourne. There will be celebrations across the host city as a second Australian restaurant, Brae has broken the top 50 at number 44, joining Attica which is ranked at 32 this year.

The real celebrations however are likely to take place in New York, with last year’s number 3 taking top billing this year – Daniel Humm’s Eleven Madison Park sits atop the list in 2017. Last year’s number one, Massimo Bottura’s Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy now sits in second place, just ahead of another former number one, El Cellar de Can Roca in Girona, Spain.

Rounding out the top five are Mirazur> in Menton, France moving up from 6th place last year and Lima’s Central, the Best Restaurant in South America and home to chef Virgilio Martinez.

Special awards presented on the night include a Lifetime Achievement Award for Heston Blumenthal, with father of the Cronut, Dominique Ansel taking the title of Best Pastry Chef. Best Female Chef was awarded to Ana Roš of Hiša Franko, Slovenia and Chef’s Choice Award went to Virgilio Martinez.
