The World’s First Adult-only Edible Alcohol Sweet Shop Opens in London

After tasting sweet success with the launch of the world’s first alcoholic sweet pop-up shop this time last year, grown up confectioners Melanie Goldsmith and Emile Bernard, of Smith & Sinclair, are back with not one, but two alcoholic sweet emporiums; where strictly no kids are allowed.

Chef Emile and ex-PR Melanie’s gin jelly sweets are already stocked in the likes of Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, but at their edible alcohol sweet shop the pair will go full on Willy Wonka with interactive features like a cocktail sherbet wall with sherbets in a range of flavours including spiced chocolate and pumpkin.

A make-your-own alcoholic dib dabs section will allow you to customise your own Negroni, raspberry Collins and Pina Colada lollies.

At last years’ pop-up visitors were invited to smell, eat, lick and breathe the products. Continuing this ‘multi-sensory experience’ theme you can also buy edible perfumes, and just like they filled the room with scent-sational smells last year, this year there will be a space infused with Christmassy vapours.

Alongside these interactive features is a classic pick ‘n’ mix of Smith & Sinclair’s most popular pastilles in flavours such as daiquiri, G&T, Long Island Iced Tea and whisky sour.

Something for your Christmas dinner table and that all the family can enjoy are the ‘salt and pepper mills’ filled with cracked white and milk chocolate.

Their ‘The Eat Your Drink’ pop-up shop cropped up on London’s Carnaby Street last year, and this time around they will open pop-ups at The Flavour Rooms at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent on November 16th, and at the Sanderson hotel in Fitzrovia on November 18th. Both stores will run until Christmas eve.

The pop-up shop at the Sanderson in particular can be expected to be just as intoxicating as the sweets themselves, having been designed by BeyondExact, the designers behind several striking set pieces that include Lady Gaga’s David Bowie tribute at the Grammys.
