Multi award-winning director Wes Anderson has the spotlight at Dublin’s Light House Cinema this month of March. The film lovers’ hot spot is running a retrospective of the films of the director and for the screening of The Grand Budapest Hotel, they’re organising something very special.
A “Prosecco and Patisserie” afternoon screening of Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel will take place on the Saturday 24th March at 1:00 pm. Tickets are priced at €26 and include a glass of Prosecco along with beautiful patisserie treats inspired by the film.
The Grand Budapest Hotel received nine Oscar nominations in 2015, including Best Picture and Best Director and it won statues for Music Score, Production Design, Costume Design and Makeup. The film tells the story of Gustave H, the concierge at a famous European hotel that has seen better times, and a lobby boy named Zero, who becomes his best friend.
Numerous scenes on the film involve stylish dinning rooms and skilfully crafted foods, in fact one of the most memorable characters is a young and brave pastry chef played by the talented Saoirse Ronan. We don’t want to spoil it for you, but her beautiful cakes appear are several important moments of the story.
The “Fantastic Mr. Anderson” series at the Light House Cinema will conclude on the 29th of March with a themed party followed by a midnight screening of its latest film, Isle of Dogs.
