Three Wines from M&S to Watch out for this Summer

M&S has given its wine offer a summer refreshment. Over the past six months, the team has traveled the world to source enjoyable, modern wines and yesterday, 11th of May, we were invited to taste the over 70 bottles they’ve added to the M&S Wine shelves for the sunny season.

Here are three of our favourite finds from the M&S wine tasting…

TO CHILL UNDER THE SUN

Domaine Jacky Marteau Touraine Sauvignon Blanc 2016
Loire Valley, France – 13% ABV
€14 – Available at M&S

Sancerre’s non-celebrity -and more affordable- neighbour, Touraine, is a fine source for Sauvignon Blanc. This one offers a pleasant combination of passion fruit, kiwi and lime aromas, confirmed on the palate, where a moderate acidity and a light body complete its friendly and balanced character.

One for oyster shucklers and seafood sybarites.

FOR BBQ PERFECTION

Three Wines to Watch out for this Summer from M&SDaniel’s Drift Shiraz – Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Western Cape, South Africa – 14% ABV

€11 – Available at M&S

Youthful and wild, this tantastic blend of Shiraz and Cab Sauv is not one for Pinot Noir heads. Juicy, fruity, spicy, it’s a velvety mixture of cranberry sauce, ripe blackberries and black pepper, a yummy and uncomplicated red with bold tannins worth joining the dark side for.

One to enjoy with lamb, beef burgers, ribs and all things BBQ.

FOR A LEISURELY SUNSET

Three Wines to Watch out for this Summer from M&SCoteaux Varois en Provence 2016
Provence, France – 12% ABV
€12.50 – Available at M&S

Its sinuous bottle is not the only thing traditionally Provençal about this delicate rosé, coloured a very pale shade of ballet pink and with a refreshing and light body. Pink grapefruit, raspberries and a cherry on top are the main features of its blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and other local varieties.

One to channel the charms of the French Riviera with an al fresco feast.
