Does Your Town Have What it Takes to Become Ireland’s Top Foodie Destination?

Do you think your town has what it takes to become Ireland’s top Foodie Destination for 2017?

In association with FBD insurance, the Restaurants Association of Ireland is hoping to celebrate Ireland’s “unique and wonderful food offerings and to encourage local food tourism initiative across the country”.

With this in mind, applications are now open for the top foodie destination. The winner will be a place that actively promotes itself through food, with food festivals, gourmet trails, farmers’ markets and great dining experiences for locals and tourists alike.

The initiative was set up as part of the Irish Restaurant Awards in 2014, but due to its popularity, became its own entity in 2015.

Last year’s winner was Boyne Valley and the destination was crowned Ireland’s Premier Foodie Destination. The Burren was 2015’s winner.

But who will succeed in becoming 2017’s victorious Foodie Destination?

Those hoping to showcase their destination must pay a €150 entry fee per application/destination. Prospective applicants are also advised to read the eligibility criteria before submitting their entry.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Thursday, July 13th. To apply, visit the Foodie Destinations website here.
