The Westbury Introduces Complimentary Theatre Tour with Abbey Theatre Tour Guide

The Westbury is delighted to announce the launch of its new complimentary Theatre Walking Tour for guests staying at the hotel over the summer season.Strolling around the Georgian Quarter is a vibrant introduction to the theatrical and cultural history of Dublin. From stunning sculpture to beautiful buildings, discover some of the personalities, dramas, and places that have influenced its character and culture. With a mixture of iconic sights, forgotten stories, and hidden gems, it is a rich and immersive introduction to the city for both tourists and locals alike.

The 90 minute walking tour will depart from The Westbury every Thursday morning throughout the summer at 10am.  Beginning at The Westbury, James Hickson, Abbey Theatre Tour Guide, will escort the guests on their route, taking in key theatrical sites such as the Gaiety Theatre and a behind the scenes tour of the Abbey Theatre. Guests will discover ancient Irish storytelling and drama at the Setanta Wall as well as enjoying a tailored tour of theatrical artwork within the National Gallery. Sculptures of Phil Lynott and Luke Kelly will also be visited, linking musical and theatrical traditions while a pitstop at the Oscar Wilde Sculpture introduces guests to the wit, personality and plays of the celebrated playwright. Other locations highlighted within the tour include St Stephens Green and its spaces dedicated to various Irish and international artists, the National Library and Bewleys (and the Café Theatre) – exploring contemporary Irish theatre.
