Westport Food Festival returns on June 29th for another year of culinary fun and festivities. Running from Friday June 29th to Sunday July 1st 2018, the festival is filled with family friendly events and offers something for all passionate foodies to enjoy.
The annual food festival showcases the best food and drink Mayo has to offer. Cookery demos, foraging events, gin masterclasses and wine tastings are just a taste of what will be on offer.
On Sunday, an exciting kayaking picnic will take place in Clew Bay, as well as a visit to a local mussel and oyster farm and an interesting trip to Mescan Brewery.
There will be plenty on offer to keep the kids entertained, with pizza-making workshops, cupcake decorating and fast food races lined up throughout the festival.
The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly the Mid-Summer Gala set on the grounds of Westport House – ‘The Banquet – a Celebration of Mayo Food’.
Guests will dine on a 7-course tasting menu, carefully designed by seven local chefs and led by festival chairman, Eoin McDonnell of the Wyatt Hotel. Working with local producers, the chefs will combine their talents to celebrate the best artisan foods and local hidden gems in Mayo.
Cabot’s of Westport have expertly paired their wines with the indulgent feast. The menu will highlight the best of local Mayo ingredients and is set to be a treat for the tastebuds.
Banquet guests will begin their evening with a trip on the Westport House Train. Taking in the picturesque scenery, guests will be transported back to another time – think Downtown Abbey glamour. Enjoy a chilled Pimms and handmade canapes on arrival before sitting down to a fabulous tasting menu.
Tickets to this gala are limited and it is advised to book without delay by calling the Hotel Westport on +353 (0)98 25122. For more information, visit www.westportfoodfestival.ie
