As sponsors of the hugely popular show The Restaurant on TV3, Gas Networks Ireland are celebrating restaurants making the most of natural gas for their cooking needs, all around the country.
This week, family run four star The Whitford House Hotel in County Wexford has the spotlight. Opened as a B&B 50 years ago, the hotel has remained in the Whitty family and serves the locals of Wexford town as well as visitors to the Sunny South East.
Executive Chef Siobhán Devereaux Doyle is at the pass in the hotel’s restaurant, and cooks up a sumptuous dish using natural gas and local ingredients in this week’s clip.
Proving that the consistent high heat from a gas hob is ideal for creating delicious dishes quickly, Siobhán creates the ultimate Wexford Surf and Turf, searing Angus fillet of beef, Kilmore Quay langoustine and monkfish tail to perfection and served piled high with local mussels.
Owner Eilish Whitty explains how The Whitford has recently connected with Gas Networks Ireland and notes that the switch has proven to be more economical already and has eliminated the need for supply wires.
Gas Networks Ireland sponsors TV3’s The Restaurant, which airs on Wednesday nights at 9pm. For more information on making the switch to natural gas, visit www.gasnetworks.ie.
