Wines from Spain Fair Returns to The Shelbourne on the 4th of October (Trade Only)

The Spanish Embassy, through its Economic and Commercial Office, is delighted to celebrate the 13th anniversary of the “Wines from Spain” Fair in Dublin, which will be held at the Shelbourne Hotel on the 4th of October. The fair is one of the most highly regarded wine events in the Irish wine trade calendar, with over 200 professionals attending each year.

Irish imports of Spanish wine increased by 25% in value in 2015, the highest rate among all wine exporters, compared to the average increase of 12.5%. Spain is one of the main wine exporters to Ireland and its presence is growing fast.

This year, the trade fair will feature more than 300 wines from a wide array of Spanish regions. Including a special table with wines from the region of Valencia that currently have no distribution in Ireland. These include wines from the DOs of Valencia, Alicante and Utiel-Requena, the VT Castellón and two Single Estate wines, VPs (Vino De Pago) El Terrazo and Los Balagueses

On the day, attendees will also be able to engage in a series of activities…

12:15 pm – Masterclass with Audrey Doré, Sommelier at El Celler de Can Roca Restaurant (Three Michelin stars and named the best restaurant in the world by Restaurant magazine).

2:30 and 4:15  pm – Wine Tasting “Wines from the Region of Valencia: Valencia, Alicante, Utiel-Requena y Castellón” with Pablo Calatayud from Celler del Roure and wine expert David B. López. Pablo Calatayud is one of the most interesting wine makers in the region. His bodega specializes in indigenous varieties, particularly Mandó for red wines and Verdil for whites. Is also quite interesting the way he keeps and matures the wine in amazing subterranean clay amphoraes.

1:00 and 3:00 pm –  Tasting: Spanish Gastronomy Table by Chef Sebastian Sainz.

The invitation is open to the trade and media. Places for the masterclasses are limited and booking is recommened.
